A look at this year's holiday shopping numbers

A shopper looks at a shop window display in Chelsea on December 5, 2012 in London, England.

This final note today, on this Christmas Eve. Turns out that in addition to Legos, one of the top sellers this holiday season is shoes.

According to NPD Group, shoes rank number five this year. Last year, they didn't even make it into the top 10.

Now my first question is: How do you buy someone a pair of shoes without them knowing that you're going to buy them a pair of shoes?

My second question is: Are we really surprised that up to 15 percent of holiday sales will be returned this year?
