This final note from a forthcoming study in the journal Media Psychology confirming something that has been clear for a while now.

Audiences are no more satisfied after watching a 3-D movie, than they are after watching the same movie in a mere two dimensions.

There are all sorts of subtle psychological factors they looked at. But two tangible explanations:
