David, David, David! We had Alan Greenspan for 19 years and have learned to get along without him, but not YOU! For one thing, I could always point to you as a Texas we all can love! Even from Dallas! We will still be able to hear your unique voice in the Marketplace archives, but Fridays will never be the same. Like many of your devastated fans, I made it a point to tune in on Fridays, timed the commute to hear you in the car, or logged on later for the replay. By your email (davidjohnson@cbs.com) I am hoping you will continue to populate the airwaves with intelligence. thanks for so many years with Kai & gang.
Good night and good luck!
Dianne from Austin
Very disappointing! Not much to add to the above comments, though interesting to find I wasn't the only one who found Johnson's Friday riff on the economy & markets to be a highlight worth adjusting my schedule to hear. Whoever decided this, I hope Marketplace or Mr. Johnson himself will reconsider, though given public radio management's response when listeners raised a ruckus with the expulsion of Bob Edwards, not likely this one can be changed either I suppose. What to me was the highlight of Marketplace is going missing.
I know almost nothing about finance but I have always looked forward to Friday's show for that five(?) minutes with David Johnson. I guess I liked that Wall Street could be discussed so affably by a smart guy. Maybe he's getting his own show. I wish good things for you David. You will be missed.
David, best wishes and good luck with your next adventure. Please come back to market place, or public radio, soon! If you are still on the air somewhere else, where can we find you?
There's no place in the market without you!

Wow... What a disappointment. My family knows that Friday's Marketplace has David and I need a few minutes of quiet while he's on. I usually try to time my very short commute home to catch the middle of Marketplace on Friday to hear David.
And my first thought was that since we didn't hear why or where he's going, it's probably bad news rather that good.
I must admin Marketplace has been very good over the years in replacing departing personalities, but there are some big shoes to fill in replacing David Johnson. I'm thinkin' my Fridays aren't going to be the same.
Well, as Kai said every Friday...
Thaaaaank You David!!!
Say it ain't so. I am out of words, shocked to say the least, Friday evenings will never be the same. My daughter and I will miss you David, the guy down in Dallas. Well, I think I have to let go. Good luck and best wishes. Thank you so much for the wonderful time we spent listing to you.
Kai, we need to talk! How could you!

We always delayed, for a few moments, our arrival at our favorite Friday evening restaurant in order to hear David's consistent light hearted take on what is sometimes a dismal subject. I just don't know what to add to all these comments. Adults learn to deal with disappointing losses, but it's never pleasant. We loved this segment of Marketplace.
While Kai and David both kept the final episode of David’s weekly spot professional and friendly, things can’t be good. For if they were, we would have been told all the wonderful details of whom, what and why. Was it politics, money, or ego? The fact that “they†chose to say nothing, leads many of us to think the worst. It’s ironic that a business show that so effectively takes big and complex issues and brings them down to a personal level, coldly reminds us that in an open and free economy, people are simply a commodity. For better or worse, that’s the way it is. Both Kai and David are great talents, and I’ve no doubt they each will continue to do well apart. But together their sum equaled more than their parts. And David’s departure means Fridays will never be the same.
Peace - John
