For better or worse, Robert Spector, author of "Category Killers" says these kinds of stores have come to dominate America's retail landscape. When Ely, Nevada's 4,000 residents heard their only department store was going to close, they went out of their way to attract Wal-Mart and other merchants. Faced with 200 mile-trips to purchase life's necessities, the town's leaders opened their own department store. Robin Urevich reports.
