Stan Alcorn was a researcher and production assistant for Marketplace’s Economy 4.0 series with David Brancaccio until April 2012. Alcorn was involved in all stages of production including research, writing, interviewing guests and cutting tape. Alcorn joined Marketplace in 2010 and was based in the New York bureau. Alcorn’s favorite interview for the show was Peruvian economist Hernandode Soto, for a story about creating jobs in Egypt. Soto is the author of “Mystery of Capital,” a book that had a major impact on Alcorn’s economic thinking.

In addition to his duties at Economy 4.0, Alcorn directed multimedia content for the Dart Center for Journalism and Trauma at the Columbia Journalism School and produces documentary shorts for Danger Documentaries. Outlets such as the Orange County Register, High Country News and Chinese web portal NetEase have published Alcorn’s work.

In 2006, Alcorn was awarded the Writer’s Award, from the Yale Economic Review. He received his bachelor’s degree in ethics, politics and economics from Yale University.
