What will the election mean to holiday sales?

Uncertainty about consumer behavior after the election has retailers nervous

Last week, retailers including Target and Best Buy reported stronger-than-expected third-quarter sales, adding to optimistic forecasts for the holiday season. The National Retail Federation predicts a 3.6 percent gain this year over last. The possible fly in the ointment? Uncertainty about consumer behavior in the aftermath of Donald Trump’s election. To get a sense of what’s happening on the ground, we visited pop-up holiday market in New York City.
