Are Title IX efforts stifling academic freedom?

A new report from the American Association of University Professors finds that efforts to crack down on sexual harassment on campus may be hampering academic freedom. The group says Title IX — the federal education law that makes discrimination based on gender illegal — is being expanded and enforced in a way that limits classroom discussion and research, and costs some professors their jobs. Risa Lieberwitz, general counsel for the AAUP and a professor at Cornell, speaks to Marketplace’s Amy Scott about the findings.
