An office chair is adorned with Team USA's letter ostensibly from coach Jurgen Klinsmann for fans to fill in and give to their bosses on June 26, 2014, ahead of the United States' make-or-break clash with the mighty Germany in Brazil. The letter, complete with the US Soccer letterhead, reads in part: 'To whom it may concern: Please excuse (insert name) from work on Thursday, June 26th. 'I understand that this absence may reduce the productivity of your workplace, but I can assure you that it is for an important cause.' 'By the way, you should act like a good leader and take the day off as well. Go USA!' It is signed: 'Jurgen Klinsmann, Head Coach, U.S. Men's National Team.' -

Today's US-Belgium World Cup game arrived at a most inconvenient time, coming as it did just an hour before deadline here at Marketplace.

We got the first half in.

But anyway: From the files of Intercall, a conference calling company, this little nugget (which we found on Quartz):

Conference call volume last week during the US-Germany game  was off 11 percent. That's "volume" as in the number of conference calls, not "volume" as in sound.

And to be honest, we were kind of lucky to get the show on the air today.
