The online health insurance exchanges officially opened to consumers on Tuesday and the new plans are getting special attention among Latinos in America due to the large number of uninsured people within the community.

Stephen Keppel, who covers economics for Univision, says this is because they work disproportionally in lower wage jobs that don’t traditionally include health care. He adds that it may be easier for Hispanics to sign up for health care in certain states, like California and New York, due to larger and more aggressive outreach programs.
