Residents will vote next month on whether to start issuing permits to shoot down government drones flying overhead. The Denver Post says a thousand people have applied for one, each person paying $25. 

Despite the city ordinance, "shooting at an unmanned aircraft could result in criminal or civil liability, just as would firing at a manned airplane," according to the Federal Aviation Administration.
