In Turkey, authorities have bulldozed barricades in Istanbul’s Taksim Square, the heart of the protests against the government. There were indications today Prime Minister Erdogan would meet with protesters, but talks may be through intermediaries instead.

In the past few days, Erdogan has lashed out against members of the business community — among others — for supporting the protests. He has urged the public to boycott these private businesses and banks saying he wants “throttle financiers” who have hurt his country.

The BBC’s Duncan Crawford joins Marketplace Morning Report host David Brancaccio from Istanbul to discuss.
