Google also makes the official announcement of its Nexus 7, the much-whispered about tablet, and sets its sights on the Kindle Fire. One big difference between the two tablets: the Nexus 7 can see. In other words the 7 inch tablet has a camera and the Fire doesn’t. Google said the device, the first of tablet kind to be branded and made by the company, will be available in mid-July. Initially orders you will only be able to get a Nexus 7 through Google Play, but expect it to be in stores later on.
Reuters writes that the tablet will resemble the Fire in how it connects people to the Internet:
Google can similarly use the Nexus 7 to connect to its own online offerings, which include YouTube and Google Play, the name of its online store where it sells digital music, movies and games. It will go after more cost-conscious users who might shun the pricier iPad
And the cost? $199, same as the Fire. And if the rumors are true, pretty much as soon as people start getting their hands on these babies, the next Fire will drop at the end of July.
