Final Note

Los Angeles Dodgers gets new owners

Kai Ryssdal May 2, 2012

This final note on the way out. A ray of baseball sunshine here in rainy Los Angeles today. The sale of the Los Angeles Dodgers closed last night. A team that includes — as I’m sure you’ve heard — Magic Johnson, paid now-former owner Frank McCourt $2-billion-plus for the club.

McCourt does still have a stake in the parking lots surrounding Dodger Stadium, but at a press conference today, the new owners took a big first step at making amends for what was generally regarded as a disastrous tenure by the much-disliked McCourt. Parking’s going to be cheaper — $10 instead of $15.

So they make fans happy. And take some money out of Frank McCourt’s pocket. Pretty nice, huh?
