Shoo spy, shoo!

Apple’s newest employee perk, revealed in a city council planning meeting, is an off-site cafeteria. Yeah, it’s kind of low-tech, if you think about it, but as Apple’s Director of Real Estate Facilities Dan Whisenhunt reasons, it’s all about fighting spies. The Next web captured his speech to the Cupertino City Council:
“We like to provide a level of security so that people and employees can feel comfortable talking about their business, their research and whatever project they’re engineering without fear of competition sort of overhearing their conversations.
That is a real issue today in Cupertino because we’ve got other companies here in our same business.”
So that’s how Apple competitors are trying to win the next battle in The Great Patent War: they’re stealing ideas before they even become patents. Brilliant! The new restaurant will be for employees only. No visitors allowed.
