Google shoots down Shoot View

John Moe Dec 14, 2011

A creative agency called Pool Worldwide launched a Google Maps mashup called Shoot View a few days ago that let you see a regular Google Street View scene from the point of view of someone holding a huge gun. You see the gun just like in a first person shooter game and then you can shoot at buildings, cars, people, anything you see. Nothing happens to the targets but you hear gun shots. It’s pretty gross when you think about it, especially in light of the Virginia Tech shootings. And in light of just, you know, human decency.

Well, Google thought so too and told Pool Worldwide that the site violated terms of service and now it’s down.
