Justice Department wants more time on Googorola

John Moe Sep 29, 2011

The DOJ says it needs more time to review the proposed takeover. This move quashes Google’s hopes of having the deal wrapped up by year’s end. The deal is widely expected to go through, it’s not being objected to in the way the AT&T-Mobile deal is. The requested extension by the DOJ is somewhat rare overall in terms of mergers and acquisitions, but probably not all that rare in terms of dealing with Google. Google is being so closely scrutinized on antitrust these days that the purchase of a candy bar or pencil would probably warrant some sort of inquiry.
