Good news, everyone! Tiny tiny gyroscope!

John Moe Aug 30, 2011

STMicroelectronics will announce a new, smaller gyroscope today. It’s reducing the size from 17 cubic millimeters to 10 cubic millimeters. Doesn’t sound like much, but when you consider that this is a major component of the iPhone and other hand-held devices, millimeters matter. For designers, having an extra 7 cubic millimeters to futz around with is like if you had the cargo space of a minivan stuffed into the trunk of your Mini Cooper.
