Google discovered a new strain of malware recently while doing some routine maintenance. Engineers noticed unusual traffic patterns coming from several sources and soon traced the problem to infected computers. Those computers had been compromised when users fell for the old "your computer appears to be infected, click here to solve the problem" scam where in the process of cleaning up malware, you end up installing malware. So how does Google intend to address this problem? By posting a notice that says "your computer appears to be infected" and directing you to places where you can update your anti-virus software.
DOES ANYBODY BUT ME SEE THE PROBLEM WITH THIS APPROACH?
