ONE app gives you one-stop activism

John Moe Jun 2, 2011

ONE is a new app from Radical Media and the Bono backed organization ONE. It’s designed to be a resource for civic activism, at least in support of the kinds of causes these groups are backing – hunger, extreme poverty, preventable diseases. You can learn about the cause by reading or watching video, sign a petition, tweet, bug your friends about it, and – this is kind of the interesting part – get phone numbers of policy makers and influential people and call them right out of the app. So the cause info might be updated to say that Congressman so and so is a key vote on this bill, push this button and get him on the phone.

Of course, only iPhone owners get to be civic activists here. No Android version.

There’s a lot happening in the world.  Through it all, Marketplace is here for you.

You rely on Marketplace to break down the world’s events and tell you how it affects you in a fact-based, approachable way. We rely on your financial support to keep making that possible.

Your donation today powers the independent journalism that you rely on. For just $5/month, you can help sustain Marketplace so we can keep reporting on the things that matter to you.
