Facebook is in some hot water after a picture of two men kissing (grown men, fully clothed) was removed from the site. It was originally posted on the page of an event, a sort of flash mob where men were to gather and kiss at the John Snow pub in England. At that pub, two men had been removed by management for kissing after another patron complained. The pub closed rather than host the event so the event was held outside. But the Facebook event page was removed and the photo was deleted from Facebook altogether. The organizers received a message that said, in part: Content that you shared on Facebook has been removed because it violated Facebook’s Statement of Rights and Responsibilities. Shares that contain nudity, or any kind of graphic or sexually suggestive content, are not permitted on Facebook.
Of course, some 60,000 people on Facebook have already shared this link with the picture in question showing up on the link ON Facebook so, well, strange times we live in and all that.
