If you happen to be driving through Auburn, Maine in early September, roll down the window and listen closely. You'll hear the sound of something dropping and cracking, followed by a 5-year-old's voice saying, "Whoopsie". The voice belongs to one of the kindergarteners given an iPad 2 this fall by the school district there. Superintendent Tom Morrill says the iPad is more important than a book (aaaand he just lost the booksellers' vote). He got a deal from Apple where each iPad 2 cost $475.
