Marketplace’s reporter in Japan, Rob Schmitz, made it to Sendai, and reported on the efforts there to regroup and recover. The impact of the earthquake has reached U.S. companies and capital. The decision to stick with nuclear, despite the situation at the Fukushima plant, has become a bipartisan agreement here in the U.S. Not so bipartisan, though, is the budget, which has gone through its sixth adjustment.

The Arab world is going through its own reconstruction phase. Commentator Melissa Harris-Perry spoke about minorities’ roles in health care reform. The New York Times has put up its paywall on its website. And Diet Coke takes the number two spot in soft drink sales from Pepsi. Here are the songs we played:

  • Hard to Be – David BazanBuy
  • Through the Fear – Cult of YouthBuy
  • Stormy – Madlib
  • Vanilla Minus – Gold PandaBuy
  • All I Want – LCD SoundsystemBuy
