Facetime for Mac goes public

John Moe Feb 24, 2011

The Mac based version of the iPhone’s video phone call app has been in testing for a while but it just went live. Facetime for Mac is available as an app in the Mac app store and it costs 99 cents. That seems kind of weird. Really, Apple? This thing that you’ve been giving away free on iPhones for months and that you’re likely going to bake in to future versions of Mac computers will cost me a buck? Cheapskates. Anyway, there it is. No sense crying about it now.

Skype’s still free, of course, which is sort of the same thing.
