Nintendo 3DS to launch with 18 titles

John Moe Feb 23, 2011

Sims 3, Madden, and Nintendogs + Cats are three of the bigger name offerings coming out of the gate. The titles do have some range to them and the selection is supposed to increase to 30 by June. It’s probably not fair to say that the future of an entire category of devices is riding on next month’s Nintendo 3DS. So I won’t say it, even though I can’t help to think it. The hand-held game console stands to lose the most with the boom of phone/iPod based casual gaming, which is cheaper and rapidly advancing in tech. The 3DS is in 3D, a platform that has fared OK in movies, disastrously in TV. But the Nintendo device requires no glasses, although where you hold your head and how much you move it will be an issue.
