Two net neutrality hearings this week

John Moe Feb 14, 2011

The House Judiciary Intellectual Property subcommittee will hold a hearing on Tuesday with witnesses Gigi Sohn of Public Knowledge (pro net neutrality rules) and Larry Downes (against the rules). The hearing will have an antitrust angle.

From The Hill:

Republicans have long contended that any potential net-neutrality issues can be regulated through antitrust authorities, making FCC regulations unnecessary.

The House Communications & Internet Subcommittee holds a hearing on Wednesday titled “Network Neutrality and Internet Regulation: Warranted or More Economic Harm than Good?” All 5 FCC Commissioners, including the chairman, will be at Wednesday’s hearing.

Also from The Hill:

Republicans are expected to reiterate their view that the net-neutrality regulations stifle innovation and kill jobs.
