Light up the night safely

Matt Berger Nov 23, 2010

Consider using LED (light-emitting diode) holiday lights in place of incandescent lights to decorate homes and Christmas trees. Longer lasting LED lights use 80 percent less energy and produce significantly less heat.

Their cooler operating temperature reduces the danger of fire, but they still sparkle! LED-adorned Christmas trees can also be recycled by various organizations including Keep GA Beautiful which hosts an annual “Bring One for the Chipper” that chips and recycles trees as mulch.
