Mt. Everest now wired

John Moe Oct 29, 2010

Engineers have installed a 3G base station at the 5200 meter mark of Mt. Everest, giving the mountain complete coverage, even at the summit of 8848 meters. This will allow people to call, text, watch YouTube, whatever they want as they try to avoid an icy death or a plunging off a mountain death. It could also be used, presumably, for rescue operations.

In a related story, I still can’t get a damn AT&T signal from my house in the middle of St Paul.
