For Marketplace Money, Friday, October 29, 2010

In our Halloween episode, we concluded Marketplace’s weeklong series about Jobs of the Future with a chat with Adriene Hill about which careers are rising. Reporter Jeff Tyler looked back on his dreams of becoming a rock star, and realized that real rock stars may not be making the gazillion dollars that it sometimes seems like. Haiti is in the news again because of an outbreak of cholera, reportedly caused by lack of clean water. Wasn’t all the donation money from after the earthquake supposed to provide for that? Tess spoke to Dr. Una Osili about where donation money goes. We also had stories about how to navigate the homebuying seas, and how physical workers may have to find new jobs if they want to — or have to — work longer in life. Tess also went over listener responses, and spoke to listeners with Kathy Kristoff during Getting Personal. And here were our spooky tunes:

  • Halloween – John CarpenterBuy
  • Flyin’ on a 747 – Kid LocoBuy
  • Dracula – GorillazBuy
  • Bela Lugosi’s Dead – BauhausBuy
  • This is Halloween – The Citizens of Halloween (The Nightmare Before Christmas)Buy
  • Theme from Rosemary’s Baby – Krzysztof KomedaBuy
